Heirloom Quality Bamboo Fly Rods

We specialize in fly rods that have actions similar to the old classics: Paynes and Dickersons, mostly, with a few others too. In some cases, we have modified the actions to improve them for today’s fly fishers while still retaining the overall “feel” of the originals. One of his principles established early in Fred's rod making career is that he doesn’t craft bamboo rods based on tapers obtained from a book or off the Internet. Instead, his rods are based on classic fly rods that he owns and fishes. The action must be above average - indeed, it must be a ‘Super’ rod based on his fishing experiences.
Each rod is designed to give you great casting action combined with outstanding 'eye appeal'. Fred guarantees you will catch more fish with them because you’ll want to fish them more often than your other rods. Even when the fish aren’t cooperating, you’ll enjoy your time on the water because of the fluid casting quality of these rods. Our fly rods are designed to be fished today… and eventually passed along to the next generation of fly fishers.

Classic Grade

Price: $1,850.00

This grade has the same tapers/action of the Classic fly rods, but with changes that accommodate a lower price.

Bright 18% nickel silver ferrules
Bright nickel silver butt caps and sliding bands
Reel seats are made from black walnut, mahogany, Spanish cedar, and other woods that harmonize with the rod
Single color silk wraps without tipping
Brushed aluminum tubes with gold anodized aluminum caps and collars
Custom sewn rod bags (courtesy of my mother)
Beautifully flamed bamboo shafts
Rods are signed and marked in black ink
Available in 2-piece rods only and not hollow-built

Signature Grade

Prices:
2-piece rods are $2,500.00

3-piece rods are $2,750.00

This is one grade higher in quality features than the Classic series.

Blued 18% nickel silver ferrules
Extra fancy wood reel seats (ex. burled Claro walnut, snakewood, myal, pink ivory, and many more)
Silk main wraps that are tipped with 3 wraps of extra fine silk thread of a different color
Bronze anodized aluminum tubes with solid brass caps and collars
Custom embroidered 100% wool rod bags
“Low profile" genuine agate stripping guides (custom made)
Custom flamed bamboo in light, medium, and dark versions

Prices: 2-piece rods are $2,500 and 3-piece rods are $2,750.
Hollow-built rods are lighter in weight and are an additional $250.

Presentation Grade

Prices average about $3,500.00 depending on the amount of engraving.

For those discriminating anglers who want the ultimate in custom bamboo rods, this grade of rods will have it all! Each rod is special-ordered and will feature custom hand-engraved reel seat components. There will also be options for specialized engraving on the rod tube cap. Because all the engraving is done by hand, each rod is one-of-a-kind, and will be tailored to the individual tastes of the angler. Presentation rods make excellent gifts for special occasions, such as: Retirement, Anniversaries, Graduations, Birthdays, etc.
